Apple Pay is a mobile payment and digital wallet service by Apple Inc. that allows users to make payments in iOS apps and on the web using Safari. It is supported on the iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, and Mac. It adds two-factor authentication via Touch ID, Face ID, PIN, or passcode.
It is available to Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, and South African businesses who want to accept payments from users in the US, UK, Canada, and other countries where Apple Pay is supported. The channel supports GHS, NGN, KES and USD (USD is only available to businesses in Nigeria and Kenya) currencies.
This payment channel supports all businesses except NGOs and Staged Digital wallets, and it is also unavailable for businesses outside Paystack's Acceptable Use Policy. Activating Apple Pay for your business
To activate Apple Pay as a payment channel for your business, you must first be enabled for international payments. Once you are enabled for international payments, please visit your Dashboard preferences under Settings and tick the Apple Pay box under 'Accept payments via.'
After selecting the box beside Apple Pay, you will be directed to click to enable Apple Pay by agreeing to the Apple Pay Platform Web Merchant Terms and Conditions.
If you're using Paystack Storefront or Payment Pages, no additional configuration is required to use Apple Pay. However, if you plan to use Apple Pay on a website or iOS app, you will need to register and verify all the web domains you want to accept payments on with Apple Pay. You can refer to our Developer Documentation for a detailed guide on how to do this.
The experience varies slightly depending on which checkout flow the customer is interfacing with. The option to pay with Apple Pay will only be visible if the customer has previously set up an Apple Pay account and added a card.
Important to note
Apple Pay is generally only available to cardholders at participating banks in supported countries. Kindly refer to Apple’s participating bank's documentation to learn which banks and countries are supported.
