Pay with Google Pay

Google Pay is a digital wallet that lets customers make secure payments using cards saved to their Google Wallet or Google Account.

Google Pay is currently available to Nigerian businesses using Paystack. Customers in Nigeria and other supported countries can use it to pay eligible Nigerian businesses, provided the business can accept the relevant payment type and the customer's card and device support Google Pay.

To accept Google Pay payments, you must first enable Google Pay on your Paystack Dashboard.

When a customer opens your Paystack Checkout page, they'll see Pay with Card or Google Pay among the available payment options.

After selecting it, they can either:

• pay with an eligible card saved to Google Pay; or

• enter their card details manually.

Google Pay will only appear when the business has enabled the channel and the customer is using a supported device with an eligible card.

1. Open the business's Paystack Checkout page on a supported device.

2. Select Pay with Card or Google Pay.

3. Select Google Pay.

4. Choose an eligible card saved to Google Pay.

5. Follow the prompts to authenticate the payment.

6. Once the payment is authorised, the transaction will be completed.

Google Pay is currently available to Nigerian businesses using Paystack. Businesses must also meet the requirements for accepting the relevant payment type, including international payments where applicable.

Customers in Nigeria and other supported countries can use Google Pay to pay eligible Nigerian businesses.

For a customer outside Nigeria to complete a payment, the Nigerian business must have international payments enabled. This means the business's location determines whether Google Pay can be enabled, while the customer does not need to be in Nigeria.

For example, a customer in the United States, United Kingdom or another supported country can use Google Pay to pay a Nigerian business if:

• the business is enabled for international payments;

• the customer's card is supported; and

• the customer's device and Google Pay setup are eligible.

Paystack currently supports Visa and Mastercard cards for Google Pay payments. The card must also be eligible for Google Pay and saved to the customer's Google Wallet or Google Account.

Google Pay is available through Paystack on supported Android devices, iPhones and desktop devices. The authentication experience varies by device:

• Android: Customers authenticate using their device's supported security method, such as fingerprint or facial recognition.

• iPhone and desktop: Customers complete an additional 3D Secure (3DS) authentication step to authorise the payment.

1. Log in to your Paystack Dashboard.

2. Go to Settings and open Preferences.

3. Find Google Pay under the available payment channels.

4. Toggle Google Pay on.

5. Save your changes, if prompted.

Once enabled, eligible customers will see Google Pay on your Checkout page when using a supported device and card.

If Google Pay doesn't appear, confirm that you've enabled it on your Paystack Dashboard.

If it's already enabled, the customer may be using an unsupported device, card or Google Pay setup. For international payments, your business must also be enabled to accept international payments.

Yes. Customers can select Pay with Card or Google Pay and enter their card details manually if they prefer not to use Google Pay.

Yes. After Paystack successfully authorises a Google Pay payment, the resulting authorisation can be used for subsequent merchant-initiated charges, including subscriptions and recurring payments, in the same way as recurring card charges.

Google Pay refunds work in the same way as card refunds. Paystack also supports partial refunds for Google Pay transactions.
