What the AI can (and can't) do on the new Paystack dashboard
The new Paystack Dashboard includes an AI feature called the Command Center. This article explains what it does, how to use it, and where it has limits.
What is the Command Center?
The Command Center is a page in your Dashboard where you can ask questions about your business in plain language and get answers grounded in your actual data.
Instead of navigating to a page, applying filters, and interpreting a table, you just ask — the way you'd ask a colleague. The AI finds what's relevant and returns an answer that fits your question, including a chart where that's the clearest way to show it.
To open it, select Command Center from the left navigation.
What you see when you arrive
The Command Center page is also your Dashboard home. At the top, you'll always see a live summary of your business: your revenue, pending settlements, open disputes, and average transaction value for the day. These are not AI-generated — they update automatically and are always there when you open the Dashboard.
Below that is your Insights pane, which shows your revenue breakdown and other key charts. The AI panel sits on the right, where you can start a conversation at any time.
What it's good at
The Command Center is designed for the kinds of questions merchants ask most:
Transaction lookups — "Did a payment from Amara Okafor come in last week?" or "Show me failed transactions from the last 30 days."
Business performance — "How did my revenue compare this month vs last month?" or "What's my average transaction value this quarter?"
Dispute and refund summaries — "Do I have any open disputes right now?"
Trend analysis — "Which of my payment channels is growing fastest?"
You can also ask about a specific transaction or customer from their detail page. When you open the Command Center from a detail page, the AI already knows what you're looking at — so you can ask things like "Is this customer's chargeback rate unusually high?" without having to explain the context.
What shapes what you can ask
The AI only has access to data your account can access. If your role doesn't include permission to view refunds, the AI won't be able to answer questions about refunds. This isn't a limitation of the AI specifically — it reflects the same access controls that apply everywhere in your Dashboard.
If you ask about something outside your permissions, the AI will let you know it can't help with that. You can speak to your account admin if you think your access needs to be updated.
What it won't do
The Command Center answers questions — it doesn't take actions. It can tell you about a dispute, but it can't resolve it. It can show you a customer's transaction history, but it can't issue a refund. Anything that changes data in your account still has to be done through the relevant page in the Dashboard.
The AI also only works with your account's data. It can't access data from other Paystack merchants, and it can't browse the internet or pull in information from outside Paystack.
Why an answer might be incomplete or uncertain
The AI works with real data, but it will sometimes qualify its answers — especially for open-ended questions like "why is my revenue down?" where the data can support multiple interpretations. When it's uncertain, it will say so. This is intentional: we'd rather the AI tell you it's not sure than give you a confident answer that turns out to be wrong.
If an answer doesn't look right, don't take it at face value. Check it against the relevant page in your Dashboard, and use the feedback option to let us know.
Giving feedback
The Command Center is still being improved. Use the thumbs up or thumbs down icon on any response to tell us how it went — both signals are useful. If you're leaving a thumbs down, you can add a short note explaining what you expected. This directly helps us make the AI better.
