Fraud chargeback

Edited

A cardholder would file a fraud chargeback at their bank when they notice an unauthorised transaction or one they don't recognise in their account. To protect their cardholders, the card schemes (Mastercard, Visa, and Interswitch) allow them to dispute such transactions, resulting in fraud chargebacks.

When Paystack receives these fraud chargebacks from the card schemes, we will send them to you on your dashboard, just as regular chargebacks, but the reason for the fraud chargeback seen on your dashboard will be 'cardholder didn't authorise the transaction.'

Similar to regular chargebacks, you have the option to accept or decline a fraud chargeback. Given the nature of fraud chargebacks, providing comprehensive evidence when declining is crucial for a successful resolution.

Please refer to our article on how to resolve chargebacks for guidance on acceptable evidence to successfully decline fraud chargebacks.
