PT Accounts for Nigeria-based businesses

A PT account is an account created in partnership with a bank to power transfers for Paystack businesses.

This partnership with a Nigerian bank allows our businesses to initiate transfers seamlessly and efficiently from the Paystack Dashboard and is currently only available to Nigeria-based Registered businesses.

How it works

A PT account is set up with our bank partner for businesses that leverage Paystack transfers subject to their consent and provision of relevant documents. Businesses can fund their PT accounts for transfers or refunds and initiate transactions seamlessly from their Paystack Dashboard. Our integration with the partner bank allows all transactions on a business's PT Account to reflect on their Paystack Dashboard.

Requirements for creating a PT Account

Only Registered businesses in Nigeria can create a PT Account. If your business is signed up as a Registered business, then you'll need to complete the compliance process for your business if you haven't already.

Generating a PT Account

  1. Go to the Accounts tab on the Dashboard Settings page. You'll see the PT Account section here. If you haven't completed your compliance documentation or activated your business, you'll be prompted to do so. After clicking on the 'Complete Compliance Documents', you'll be redirected to the Compliance tab to complete the compliance for your business.
    We'll also need to gain your consent to submit your compliance documentation to our bank partners for due diligence and account set-up.

  2. If you've completed compliance documentation for your business, you'll be prompted to sign the consent form to request a PT account. Click on the 'Sign Consent to Request' button. You will need to provide the KYC details and sign or invite another member to sign the consent form.

  3. After submitting the KYC documents and signing the document, you can proceed to accept the terms and can then proceed to create the account. Click the 'Request PT Account' button.

  4. Your request will be received by our team. If everything checks out, your new account should be set up within 24 hours. You'll receive an email notifying you of this, and the account details will be visible on your Paystack Dashboard.

If your request was not approved, you'll see a 'An error occurred while creating your PT Account, please try again by clicking the button below,' message on the PT page after clicking Accounts. We kindly suggest that you re-apply if you receive this error.

Confirming payments made to PT accounts

Paystack businesses with PT accounts can requery their PT accounts directly from the Paystack Dashboard to confirm delayed top-ups.

When you make a transfer to your PT account, your balance is automatically topped up with the transferred amount within a few minutes. However, in some cases, your balance may take a bit longer to get topped up after making a successful transfer from your bank.

You can requery your PT account from the Home page or Balance page from of your Dashboard to confirm inflows into the account. Once you click on the requery button, we’ll check to confirm any pending inflows into your account and automatically update your Paystack balance accordingly.

Supported banks

We currently only support Titan Trust Bank.

Account naming convention

By default, the PT account generated for your business will bear your business name as it appears in your business registration documents.
